Issue/Introduction

When working with your issue, support may ask you to send in a portion of your OPSLOG that contains the error message that you may have received, not the entire OPSLOG, but a 'snippet'.

When asked to do this you can either cut and paste the information into the issue or you can use the PP line command function that OPS/MVS supplies.

Environment

Release: PVLA2.00200-12.2-OPS/MVS-Event Management & Automation-for JES2
Component:

Resolution

When asked to do this you can either cut and paste the information into the issue or you can use the PP line command function that OPSMVS supplies.

  1. Display the requested fields. For this function to work, you will need to display the MSGNO field as well.
    MessageNum Message ID Job Name ----+----1----+----2----+----3----+----4----+--0154562821 IEF196I    OPSOSFP  IEF196I IEF237I 5503 ALLOCATED TO vvvvvvv1     0154562822 IEF196I    OPSOSFP  IEF196I IEF285I   hlq.SYSV120.SECDEV        0154562823 IEF196I    OPSOSFP  IEF196I IEF285I   VOL SER NOS= volser.         0154562824 IEF196I    OPSOSFP  IEF196I IEF237I 5503 ALLOCATED TO vvvvvvv2

  2. Next, locate the block of information that you need to send. In the first field of the MessageNum column type a "PP". Go to the end of the information and type another "PP".

  3. Once you hit the enter key the PP's will go away. You now need to type "LIST" on the command line and this will take you to the following screen:

    Command ===>

    List Data Set (USERID.SYSID.SPF3.LIST) Disposition:

    Process Option . . . .

    1. Print data set and delete

    2. Delete data set without printing

    3. Keep existing data set and continue with new data set

    Batch SYSOUT class . .
    Local printer ID or
    writer-name . . . . .
    Local SYSOUT class . .

    Press ENTER key to process the list data set.
    Enter END command to exit without processing the list data set.

    Job statement information: (Required for system printer)
    ===>

  4. Take note of the data set that OPSMVS assigned to this function, in this instance it's USERID.SYSID.SPF3.LIST. This is where the information is stored.

    You would now want to select Process Option 3 to keep the existing dataset. You will then be able to access 3.4 panel to view the dataset and the information that it contains.

  5. You will then be able to forward this file to support for review.
