Is there a way to start task in stages, after IPL you have ops start basic tasks JES, TN3270, TCPIP , APPC, CAS9 ,RMF, RACF, SDSF, TSO, then when you are ready start CICS, DB2.....etc ?

Is there a way to start task in stages, after IPL have OPS start basic tasks like JES, TN3270, TCPIP , APPC, RMF, RACF, SDSF, TSO, then when ready according to user decision continue the activation of the other tasks like CICS, DB2, etc ?

Resolution

Setting the IPL_STATE to DOWN for CICS, DB2 etc and creating a pseudo command to change the DESIRED_STATE to UP when it is convenient would create a manual intervention requirement for this second set of resources.

Another option is to set IPL_STATE to DOWN for some of the tasks and issue a WTOR to ask for confirmation before setting the DESIRED_STATE of those tasks to UP
