How execute the Forward Merge process without producing duplicate tapes?

Can the Forward Merge process be executed successfully and not produce duplicates (i.e. skip the $COPYTP duplexing step)?

Yes, remove or comment out the $COPYTP step from the $FM job (DDNAME ASM2CPYT). However, step 3 must be run, the IPC Update (DDNAME ASM2IPCU).
