Pentaho ETL Scripts Fail to Update Model Configuration in Identity Governance

Issue/Introduction

When executing Kettle Pentaho ETL scripts to update Universe Configurations (Enrichment), the job fails to update the Model Configuration. Instead, the ETL job updates the Master Configuration, even when the connection is explicitly configured to target the Model Configuration. While the preview function operates correctly, the execution of the full job fails to route data to the intended target.

Cause

This issue occurs because of a specific configuration setting in Pentaho Kettle (Spoon). When the property "Only Save Used Connections to XML" is enabled, connection metadata required for routing to specific configurations is incorrectly handled or stripped, causing the job to default to the Master Configuration.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must disable the connection-saving constraint in the Kettle tool options to ensure all metadata is preserved.

1. Open the Pentaho (Spoon) ETL tool.
2. Navigate to Tools > Options.
3. Select the Edit (or General/XML) tab.
4. Locate the property labeled Only Save Used Connections to XML.
   
   
   
5. Uncheck this property.
6. Click OK to save the changes.
7. Re-run your ETL job to verify that updates are correctly applied to the Model Configuration.
