Issue/Introduction

This article addresses the "ldap_bind: Server is unavailable (52)" error that occurs when deploying a UserStore on the second node of a clustered Identity Manager Virtual Appliance (VA) environment.

Environment

Virtual Appliance 14.5

Cause

The error is caused by an incorrect authentication setting in the directory knowledge configuration. The auth-levels parameter is incorrectly set to anonymous, preventing the bind process required for inter-node cluster communication.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the Virtual Appliance node where the deployment is failing.
  2. Navigate to the directory configuration folder: /opt/CA/Directory/dxserver/config/knowledge.
  3. Open the knowledge file associated with the UserStore for editing.
  4. Locate the auth-levels parameter.
  5. Change the value from anonymous to clear-password.
  6. Save the file and exit the editor.
  7. Restart the CA Directory service to apply the updated configuration.
  8. Retry the UserStore deployment on the cluster node.
