Issue/Introduction

Server Processes of the Automation Engine running on the same host show this hostname in different formats in AWI > Administration > AE Processes
  • Conventional WPs / CPs show “hostname.domain” as Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN).
  • Java WPs / JCPs show only “hostname” as host, not in FQDN

Server Type Hostname display
WP hostname.yourcompany.fqdn.com
CP hostname.yourcompany.fqdn.com
JWP hostname
JCP hostname

WPsrv_log.006
20200505/123447.755 - 24     U00003490 Connection to 'xxxxxx:1xx93' initiated, client connection '6'
20200505/123447.756 - 24               Unhandled Exception in thread Timer-1 ID=24
20200505/123447.756 - 24     U00045014 Exception 'java.nio.channels.UnresolvedAddressException: "null"' at 'sun.nio.ch.Net.checkAddress():101'.

Environment

Cause

The java based server processes have a different method for resolving the hostname received from the OS.

Resolution

When the difference of shown host is not acceptable and the fully qualified domain name is needed then the hostname parameter should be specified in the ucsrv.ini section [TCP/IP] like:

[TCP/IP]
hostName=<FQDN>

The JWPs and JCPs must be restarted to reflect this change. After the restart the hostname is displayed in FQDN format in Awi > Administration > Processes.
