When attempting to save a project back from MSP (Microsoft Project) to Clarity, receive an error: Invalid value for field prName [Task Name].

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create a new project in Microsoft Project
  2. Create one task with a task name greater than 150 characters
  3. Enter Start and Finish Dates for the task if not there already (values are required for saving a project to PPM)
  4. Attempt to Save the project back to Clarity

Expected Results: Project saves successfully to Clarity

Actual Results: Receive error Invalid value for field prName [Task Name] (Task Name is the name of the task greater than 150 characters)

This is working as designed. The maximum character length for a task in Clarity is 150 characters.

Applies to all supported releases.

Reduce the task name for the task in Microsoft Project to be less than 150 characters.

Tip: To check the length of task name:

  1. Copy and paste the task name into to Microsoft Word
  2. Click on the 'Review' tab
  3. Click on the 'Word Count' button

A popup message will display that will show you the character count
