Issue/Introduction
CA File master plus for IMS upgrade from 8.5 to 11.0
I will be upgrading my File Master Plus for IMS from r8.5 to r11.0, and have the following questions/concerns.
1. Can we upgrade file master plus for IMS from 8.5 to 11?
2. The assemble and link of the cawaopts module.. is it mandatory?
3. What does IMSENV library contains?, is it ok to copy previous versions members from 8.5 to version 11 IMSENV library?
4. Are there any specific migration considerations for this upgrade?
5. Do we need to APF authorize or add any library to linklist. If so, please let me know the library name?
6. What does HLQ.SEGXREF contains and is it ok to copy the members from previous release which is R8.5?

1. Can we upgrade file master plus for IMS from 8.5 to 11?
Yes, no problem, you can directly go from release 8.5 to 11.0.
2. The assemble and link of the CAWAOPTS module, is it mandatory?
The CAWAOPTS module is for CA File Master Plus for MVS. It's not being used for CA File Master for IMS. Please see CAWKOPTS for the latter. See

and decide whether you would like to change the defaults, or not.
3. What does the IMSENV library contain? Is it ok to copy the previous versions members from 8.5 to version 11 IMSENV library?
Just have a look into your 8.5 IMSENV library. There is one member for each environment. It's readable.
Yes, you can use the existing 8.5 IMSENV for 11.0 as well.
4. Any specific migration considerations for this upgrade?
No, as far as I know, there are no specific considerations.
5. Do we need to APF authorize, or add any library to the Linklist?. If so, please let me know the library name?
Yes, HLQ.CDBIAUTH must be authorized. I recommend to add it to the link list too.
6. What does HLQ.SEGXREF contains and is it ok to copy the members from previous release which is R8.5?
Yes, you can use your existing 8.5 SEGXREF members in 11.0 too.

Additional Information
The SEGXREF library contains cross reference members where you can define which layout belongs to which segment.
For instance, if you have this line in a SEGXREF member: ...
STUDENT => CAWKXSTU ...
CA File Master for IMS knows that the CAWKXSTU layout member can be used to display the STUDENT DB segment.
