Install the PAM Client in different versions in parallel to the same workstation

Issue/Introduction

Sometimes it might be desirable to install different versions of the PAM Client to the same computer.

E.g.
   - for testing purposes we would like to use the r4.0 and the r4.1 version of the PAM Client
   - we are upgrading 4.1.3 to 4.2 and we can only upgrade by phase, we need both PAM Client 4.2 and 4.1.3

Can we have have the PAM Client 4.2 coexists with PAM Client 4.1.3? In other words, can we install the PAM Client in different versions in parallel to the same workstation?

Environment

Release: All supported versions of CA PAM as of October 2023.
Component: CAPAMX

Resolution

Just install the different versions of the PAM Client (i.e. 4.0.x and 4.1.x or 4.1.x and 4.2) into different directories – then the two instances have their own cache and behave independently
