UNRESOLVED FAULT DETECTED ALARM FOR WA_LINK MODEL

Issue/Introduction

We have a strange fault isolation alarm in system. When interface goes into a down state, a critical alarm WA LINK CONTACT LOST alarm, is generated on the connected WA_LINK. The operator put this WA_Link model into maintenance and then an UNRESOLVED FAULT DETECTED ALARM was generated. 

This happened a second time and the operator set the admin status for interface as Down, which generated a WIDE-AREA PROBABLE LINK FAILURE major alarm and an UNRESOLVED FAULT DETECTED ALARM.

Cause

The router was placed without any connection to other network devices, i.e. a stand alone router on the topology map. 

The WA_Link was created automatically. 

Resolution

We connected the router to other devices and placed an endpoint router to connect to the WA_Link and the problem was resolved.
