How can I tell how old my current component is?  What is the difference between this component and the latest component on the support.automic.com download site?

Investigation

When you go to the downloads.automic.com site and select "Patch Description" each specific resolved issue is listed as an individual fix.  For example, for a AutomationEngine build, you might see:

The first part (X.YYZ) is the major version number.

After that, the first digit is the last number of the year.

The second, third, and fourth digits are the number of the day of the year (the Julian day)

The fifth digit is the ServicePack release + 1. (GA = 1, SP1 = 2)

The sixth digit is the build number.

Solution

So, 9.00A305-451 means that this hotfix was released
in 2013
on the 54th day of that year

as part of ServicePack 5
and was the first build of the day (01).
Or, in other words, it was built on February 23, 2013.
