Symptoms

Jobs run on a remote agent behind a firewall sometimes go into a LAUNCH ERROR status. Errors like the following are displayed in pop-up windows:

ErrorMsg: AwE-5117 Job launch error

ErrorMsg: AwE-5103 network socket error

The remote agent is in a Running status.

Cause

We have seen these symptoms when ports specified for a firewall configuration time out.

Resolution

This has been rectified by either:

• Resetting the timeout setting for the port in the firewall configuration.
• Creating and scheduling a dummy module in AppWorx to keep the port open.
