Detailed Description and Symptoms

When running an SAP job the customer receives an error message like:

U2004007 Error 'INVALID_JOBDATA' in '/SBB/automic_JOB_SUBMIT' call.

U2000009 Job 'TEST_1' with RUN# '11228897' ended with return code '102'

Investigation

There is obviously a problem with the specific parameters being passed by Automic to the SAP system.  This can be caused by many things—the data itself, the job parameters, the login information, or even permissions on the login object user itself.

Try submitting the job manually from SAP to make sure that the job itself is valid and does not have any SAP kernel issues.

Solution
1. Reattempt submitting the job using a different login object.
2. Make sure that the user type is the correct type for the user, and check other internal user settings.
3. Check that the process was an interactive process (GUI) and not a batch process.
4. Submit the job using the default settings (with no variant specified) in order to eliminate the variant as the problem.
