Issue/Introduction

When upgrading to a new main release (e.g 10.0.8 to 11.2.8 or 11.2.6 to 12.1.2 or higher), DB Load fails with the following error message:

U0038140 Action not possible. Different Automation Platform Systems were started with this database
U00038140 Action not possible. Different Automation Platform Systems were started with this database

Environment

Automic Workload Automation Product supported platforms

Cause

When updating, Automic checks all server objects (CPs and WPs) and will not upgrade the database if there are inconsistent names. This can happen e.g. if you changed the system name at some point. In that case, the table OH contains records of objects with Type SERV with a different name as the actual system name.

Resolution

The recommended way to overcome this is by executing the following steps:

  1. Log into the Client 0.
  2. Access the <No Folder>. There the WP- and CP-objects are stored.
  3. Delete all CP- and WP-objects with another name as the current system name.

If this does not work, please contact CA Support and reference this article. Support will provide the needed SQL-statements to solve this issue.
