Detailed Description and Symptoms

Many of the troubleshooting procedures described in the Knowledge Base require you to shutdown and start-up the Applications Manager processes on the master and RMI server. The shutdown and start-up procedures for UNIX and Windows using different Applications Manager versions are described in this topic for different Applications Manager versions. For more information on Applications Manager processes, see the Applications Manager documentation.

Note: UNIX is case-sensitive and Windows is not.


Solution

Starting and Stopping the Applications Manager Processes from the Start Menu

To start the processes from the Start menu: open the Start menu on the Windows desktop, choose Programs, point to Applications Manager NT, and click Start Applications Manager Processes. This command also starts the RMI server which contains the Applications Manager Master.

To stop the processes from the Start menu: open the Start menu on the Windows desktop, choose Programs, point to Applications Manager NT, and click Stop Applications Manager Processes.

Starting and Stopping Individual Processes from the Start Menu

To start or stop an individual process from the Start menu: open the Start menu on the Windows desktop, choose Programs, point to Applications Manager NT, and click the appropriate command for the master or agent.

Starting or Stopping the Master with an awexe Command

To start or stop the Applications Manager master using an awexe command in a script, use the use the awexe master command=start and awexe master command=stop calls. Before issuing these commands, make sure the correct environment is set.
