Detailed Description and Symptoms

***NOTE: The following are instructions for managing your z/OS agent and should be verified and approved by your z/OS administrator or your authorized z/OS support organization.  Automic Support is not responsible for the results of the following or for administration of z/OS systems.  


Investigation

Checking to see if your z/OS agent is running
Go to SDSF Go to DA Type in:

Hit Enter 
If nothing appears, your agent is not running.

If your agent is running, you will see the started task in the list:

Checking your agent log

Go to ISPF Go to 3.4 Type in the Dsname level info (for example, automic.automic800A*):

Go to the left of automic.automic800A.UCXJM25.INI and type in: 
    B

Go to the left of the file in here (something like AUTOMICTASK) and type in: 
    E

Look at the logging= setting. If it is commented out, the information will be in the started task.

Otherwise, take a look at the name (something like automic.automic800A.WORK.LOG##).

In your command prompt, type (this may depend on your set up but is going to the Data Set List Utility): 
    =3.4
Type in the Dsname Level of your log file (something like automic.automic800A.WORK.*):

Go to the left of the log file and type: 
    E

Hit Enter and Enter again to bring up the log file.

Starting your z/OS agent


Go to SDSF Go to DA Type in: 
    /

This will bring up a command line, where you will type in something like:
 
    setprog APF,ADD,DSN=&lt;path to your UCXJM25.LOAD>,SMS

Hit Enter Now go to your command line again and type: 
    S &lt;started task name>

Stopping your z/OS agent

Go to SDSF Go to DA Check to see if your agent is running, if so, type:
