Issue/Introduction

Error Message :
U0012114 GSS error: zero length error.
U0011134 ERROR '%' bytes, incorrect transfer of '%' records for file
U0011414 Error while writing to file 'JOB.NAME.HERE'. Error code: '113', error description: 'EDC5113I Bad file descriptor.'.

File transfers were working in version 9, but after an upgrade to version 10 the following errors may be seen in the Job's log file:
 
2016-04-19 09:08:00 - U0011124 Selection started with filter 'C:\somefile.txt' ... 
2016-04-19 09:08:00 - U0063003 Restart - transfer all new: 
2016-04-19 09:08:01 - U0011125 'C:\somefile.txt' 
2016-04-19 09:08:01 - U0011126 Files selected: '1'. 
2016-04-19 09:08:02 - U0011134 ERROR '%' bytes, incorrect transfer of '%' records for file 'C:\somefile.txt'->'JOB.NAME.HERE'. Duration '00:00:01'. 
2016-04-19 09:08:02 - U0011414 Error while writing to file 'JOB.NAME.HERE'. Error code: '113', error description: 'EDC5113I Bad file descriptor.'. 
2016-04-19 09:08:03 - U0011409 FT '346322915': FileTransfer ended abnormally.

After attempting to renew the Transfer key on the z/OS Agent, the following error is displayed when attempting to run a Job:
 
U0012114 GSS error: zero length error.

Cause

Cause type:
Other
Root Cause: The Agent is throwing the GSS error. The keystore files need to be deleted for the Agents and then the transfer keys for both Agents need to be renewed and the Agents brought back online.

Resolution

The GSS error comes from the Agent. It may be resolved via the following steps:
  1. Stop both Agents Delete the keystore file in both Agent's /bin directories
  2. In Client 0, renew the transfer key for both Agents
  3. Bring your Agents back online 
  4. Re-run the failing jobs
