In the Applications Manager Release Notes under the section ‘Upgrading an Existing Automation Engine’ it contains the following information:

“If you select the option to back-up your directory when you upgrade, it will back-up all directories except the log directory, but it does not back-up the database.”

This statement is no longer valid.  Applications Manager versions 8 and 9 do not contain an option that will back-up your directory when performing an upgrade.

Before performing any upgrade, we recommend that you manually backup your Applications Manager Oracle data and system files.
