Inconsistent behavior when populating CP_LISTS with the *OWN parameter for host_name

Article ID: 87583

Updated On:

CA Automic Workload Automation - Automation Engine

Error Message :

When modifying the Automation Engine ucsrv.ini to host_name = *OWN, Agents when they start may not be able to populate a hostname, but instead only an IP address. This can cause inconsistencies in cycling Agents from within the System Overview or transferring reports to the Automation Engine.

Cause type:
By design
Root Cause: Using *OWN is not recommended - to eliminate potential OS issues and or multiple NIC's causing unexpected returns, the best practice would be using the hostname necessary for the environment.
