Issue/Introduction

Scheduled state error is received when trying to move items between Swimlanes on a Kanban board. 

Error: USxxx an unexpected error occurred. Could not convert: “ScheduleState” must be a string: Value [Backlog] for field [string] is invalid”. Valid values are: [Finished, Defined, In-Progress, Completed, Accepted]

Cause

A scheduled state custom field is not enabled in the scheduled state type field. This can be under the field type of user story, defect. etc.

Resolution

The following steps can be used to enable to the necessary scheduled state custom field.

1. Navigate to workspace settings (the hammer and wrench icon) 
2. Select the workspace and projects tab
3. Select the workspace in question 
4. Select the Fields button on the left side of the screen
5. Change the dropdown type to User story 
6. Find the field Schedule State 
7. Using the gear icon click and select edit 
8. The value in question will be grayed out and will need to be enabled to clear the error.
