Description :We noticed that the uxioserv process is consuming a lot of memory. (Day 1 52 MB -> Day 2 350 MB -> Day 3 580 MB) until they stop or cause the system to run out of swap.
This can be checked by the command prstat / top on the solaris server and looking at the SIZE / RSS column of the uxioserv process
Environment
OS: Sun Solaris Sparc OS Version: it occurs on both Solaris and Hp-UX
Cause
Cause type: Defect Root Cause: The symbolic links created on the folders data/XXX/upr after upgrading to duas 6.2.XX are the reason of the problem that manifests only on Solaris and Hp-UX
Resolution
WORKAROUND: The symbolic links on the uproc folders are the cause of the issue and they should be removed or not created during upgrade
Before upgrade: 1. In order to avoid the creation of these symbolic links on Unix systems when upgrading to 6.2.x please apply the following procedure via the kit 6.2.x unzipped on the server:
a. backup the file /tools/uniupgrade_duv6_ujv2 b. edit the file /tools/uniupgrade_duv6_ujv2 c. comment (#) these two lines and save the file:
439 uniexecute "ln -sf ${uprdir} ${upr}" 440 [ $? -ne 0 ] && echo "error during creation of symbolic link to ${uprdir}"
d. launch the upgrade via unirun -u, this time the uproc links won't be created
This procedure has been validated on our systems
After upgrade: 2. In case the upgrade has already been done you need to launch: find . -type l -exec rm {} \;
in every folder /data/XXX/upr (where XXX is each active Area)
Please apply either workaround 1 (before upgrade to DUAS6.2.01) or 2 (after upgrade to DUAS6.2.01) on Solaris / Hp-UX nodes
