Introscope Workstation will not install on Windows 10.

Issue/Introduction

  Installation of Introscope Workstation on computers running Windows 10 is unsuccessful.

Environment

Windows 10, along with all current versions of Application Performance Management that support Windows 10.

Cause

  The version of the InstallAnywhere installer which APM packages does not work correctly with versions of Java beyond Java 1.8 update 45.

At this time, older Java releases can be found at this link -- http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/java-archive-javase8-2177648.html

Resolution

 Install Java version 1.8, update 45 , or an earlier version, and rerun the installer.

 If there is already a later version of JVM installed, you may need to run the installer using the syntax below, to specify which JVM should be used by the installer:

IntroscopeWorkstation<VERSION_NUMBER>windows.exe LAX_VM "<PATH_TO_JAVA>\bin\java.exe"

As an example:

IntroscopeWorkstation10.5.0.28windows.exe LAX_VM "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_45\bin\java.exe"

Additional Information

 The installer compatibility issue is being addressed in an upcoming version of Application Performance Management.
