Root Cause: For every query performed against the DB a dummy query was performed, such as "select 1 from dual" on Oracle.

Resolution
Two node settings were added to UVMS to disable the validation query when connections are idle or before connection are borrowed.
To reduce the number of validation queries go to the Administration tab > UVMS Node Settings > Database Settings and set the following variables to "No":
Validation Query Before Being Borrowed
Validation Query While Idle
