A user performed a fairly open display element search with a filter clause on CCID.
All TSO users accessing Endevor were locked with their next interaction and all batch jobs stopped.
When the TSO user hit ATTN key (Attention interrupt key) to end a process, every Users and Jobs returned to working status.
Check the current Enqueues for CTLIMSTR -> D GRS,RES=(CTLIMSTR,*)
Identify the user or batch that reserving the Qname CTLIMSTR with Status OWN.
If the Qname CTLIMSTR is not released in a short time a it should, check the status of User or Batch in cause and take the appropriate action to allow the User or Batch to complete the current action.
If the User or Batch doesn't answer, Take a Dump and cancel it if possible and analyze the root cause of abend.
If the root cause is a TSO User, here are some possible solutions:
- Use TSO PROFILE NOWTPMSG and/or
- Configure TSO so that it loses screen messages instead of waiting for screen buffers.
- Contact IBM for a solution with TSO
- Lower REGION size
But if the problem occurs again, get a SVC dump from the hung TSO user or Batch.
