An attempt to start the Automation Engine (AE) Work Processes (WPs), results the error being logged in the service manager log:

Is the server running on host "database-server" (10.0.0.1) and accepting
TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

Environment

Automic Workload Automation: 12.3, 21 and higher

Cause

Permissions for the user starting the services on the product install directories

Firewall ports for the Automic server and the database

Database status and availability

Resolution

1) Check your permissions for the user starting AE.

2) Ensure your firewall is configured correctly for the AE ports and the database communication port

Make sure the ports assigned for the database, CPs and the WPs have been configured correctly on the firewall.

3) Ensure the "ucsrv.ini" file exists in the automation engine's bin directory with appropriate permissions for the user who's starting the service.

The absence or accidental deletion of the ucsrv.ini file can produce this error. In this case you can download a new ucsrv.ini file, re-configure the settings and save.

4) Ensure that the DB is running on the server and able to connect from the Automation Engine server
