Users Lose Permissions When an AD Forest has Multiple Domains

Issue/Introduction

When Release Automation (RA) is integrated with Active Directory, in which the forest includes multiple domains, users from one domain may lose permissions within RA while users from another domain experience no problems.

Environment

Release Automation integrated with Active Directory on Windows Server.

Cause

For RA versions 6.2 and earlier, multiple domains were not yet supported. This meant that while one could attempt to configure RA for multiple domains, problems would arise due to lack of support for this feature.

Resolution

To enable support for multiple domains within an Active Directory forest, upgrade to version 6.3 or later with the latest cumulative patch installed. Support was first added in the June cumulative patches for versions 6.3 and 6.4, and is included in versions 6.5 and later.
