Issue/Introduction

Running 'unisrvcntr start waae_sched.<INS>' shows that the Scheduler starts OK.

Subsequent check of running processes and the chk_auto_up command show that the Scheduler is not running.

Nothing is logged to $AUTOUSER/out/event_demon.<INS> file.

There is no error visible to explain why the Scheduler will not start.

Environment

WAAE 11.3.x UNIX/LINUX

Resolution

The symptoms listed above will occur if the $AUTOUSER/out/event_demon.<INS> file cannot be accessed by the user that is starting the event_demon process. Typically, the event_demon process runs as the user that owns the $AUTOSYS/bin/event_demon binary.

Check the file owner and permissions on $AUTOUSER/out/event_demon.<INS> and make sure it is writable by the user starting the event_demon process.
