Issue/Introduction

When I open CA Vantage SRM on Windows and get an error as "RUNTIME ERROR 430. CLASS DOESNOT SUPPORT AUTOMATION OR DOESNOT SUPPORT EXPECTED INTERFACE".

Environment

Z/OS 2.1 - VANTAGE 12.6 or 12.7

Resolution

Need to run the following sequence:

1) Take a copy of the TD.mdb file for safe keeping.

2) Use the Windows Add/Remove Programs feature to un-install the Brightstor SRM windows Client

3) Re-boot the PC.

4) Download the last version of Vantage Brightstor SRM Windows Client software + last patch and install them.

5) Start the GUI and try to logon, (do not copy the TD.mdb yet).

6) If this works, copy the backed-up version of TD.mdb over the top of the newly created one.

7) Shutdown and re-start the GUI and try to logon again.

If you continue to get the problem is due to a "corrupt" registry and we need to delete the registry BrightStore Storage Resource entries .

1) Take a copy of the TD.mdb file for safe keeping.

2) Use the Windows Add/Remove Programs feature to un-install the Brightstor SRM windows Client

3) Select Start Run type: REGEDIT

         select HKEY_Local_MACHINE

Delete registry BrightStore Storage Resource entries

(under Software / Computer Associates )

if you find any entries under software/sterling software/.--)

             Remove these entries also.

4)  Re-boot the PC.

5) Download the last version of Vantage Brightstor SRM Windows Client software + last patch and install them.

6) Start the GUI and try to logon, (do not copy the TD.mdb yet).
