Issue/Introduction

TMSXTEND failed with message

TMSXT14E SOME CPU(S) DID NOT ACCESS NEW TMC.  and

USER COMPLETION CODE=1022 REASON CODE=0000003B

although TMSRINIT was started when requested by TMSXTEND with message

*TMSXT50I CPU(cccc) HAS NOT ACCESSED NEW TMC. RUN TMSRINIT ON THAT CPU.

 

The started TMSRINIT task ended immediately with RC0 after messages

 

TMSRI00I  CPU(cccc) - TMC EXTEND MONITOR ACTIVATED.  

TMSRI05I  CPUINN=cccc  AUDFLG=80  CPUFNN=84          

 

A restart of TMSRINIT did not help either and TMSXTEND continued issuing message

*TMSXT51I TMSRINIT MUST BE RUN ON CPU(cccc) WITHIN  nn MINUTES. 

until it finally abended with message TMSXT14E and U1022-3B

Cause

TMSRINIT was started with PARM='STATUS'. In this case it just snaps some internal control blocks from TMSXTEND to the CAISNP DD, which can be used for debugging in case of problems running TMSXTEND.

Resolution

Do not run TMSRINIT with PARM='STATUS'. Valid parms to run TMSRINIT in monitor mode when requested by TMSXTEND with message TMSXT50I are:

 

• PARM=''
  Specifies the default monitor mode. The CA 1 Audit control record #4 is examined at 1-minute intervals to determine if a TMC switch is in progress.
• PARM='WAIT=HHMMSSTH'
  This parameter overrides the wait time between checks of the Audit control record to the value specified.
