Issue/Introduction

When modeling a device using the CiscoAPIC modeltype in Spectrum, traps do not process.  There are no trap based events/alarms generated.

Cause

The problem is that the "Registers_for_alerts" attribute is false on the CiscoAPIC modeltype.

Environment

Release: SDBSFO99000-10.2-Spectrum-Device Based Suite-Server FOC
Component:

Resolution

For CA Spectrum release 10.2 a program temporary fix is available which sets the Registers_for_Alerts attribute to True by default in the SSdb:

Spectrum_10.02.00.PTF_10.2.046

Please open a case and request the Spectrum_10.02.00.PTF_10.2.046 patch if you need it.

This is tentatively scheduled to be fixed in CA Spectrum release 10.2.2.  The Fixed Issues will show an entry similar to this:

Symptom: Alarm not getting generated on Cisco Apic model type.

Resolution:  Setting register_for_alerts attribute to true for the said model type.
