Issue/Introduction
Does the CA GEN product do SIGN ONs?
Environment
Release: Component: Distributed"
Resolution
The CA Gen product does not do SIGN ONs.
For Block Mode (3270), the user Signs on at a terminal and then types in the CA Gen trancode to start the Gen application. The CA Gen application Inquires from CICS what Userid the application is running as and uses that for various things like DB2 RPROF table records etc.
For Cooperative (Client/Server), different methods are used to obtain the Userid provided by the Client (in the CFB buffer) to execute the Server application. If you are using TCP/IP, then you use CA Gen Listeners and the Listeners (TISRVLIS or TISRVMSL) use User Exit TIRSLEXT to validate userid and password passed in the CFB. You are able and may have customized this exit, but by default we do not do a SIGN ON.
