BSTCOPY abends with B14-1C

Issue/Introduction

When executing BSTCOPY in a processor, why does the step terminate with a system B14 abend?
Other errors noted are:
+BSTCOPY - ABEND CODE=SB14 OCCURED DURING EXECUTION
+BC1PC1PR: F000 ABEND CODE=COPY NUMBER=0500 

IEC217I B14-1C,IGG0201Z,job,step,ddname, volume, dataset.name(member)

Resolution

Remove the member parameter from BSTCOPY input (INDD)  and output (OUTDD) dataset (DSN=). The member will be identified by the 'SELECT MEMBER' statement in the SYSIN.
