CA Network Flow Analysis (NetQos / NFA)

Issue/Introduction

Some of Scheduled Custom Reports are in a "Defined" state with with Status message of "Service Restarted" and the report does not run or get emailed.

The ReportService.log contains Errors like:
NetQoS.ReporterAnalyzer.Business.ReporterToQueryServicesException: Communication error through COM. Report may already be Queued. ---> System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Unspecified error (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004005 (E_FAIL))

Cause

The sql query sent by the report return too many data and the transfert fails .

Resolution

1. Open the \CA\NFA\Mysql\my.ini file in notepad.

2. Set the : max_allowed_packet size from 64M to 256M like below:
max_allowed_packet=256M
 

3. Recycle the CA Mysql Service,  on the NFA Console and monitor for a re-occurrence of the issue.

4.  If the problem does reoccur, there is an existing defect open with NFA Development which is pending a fix, please open a support case and reference  Defect # DE343953.
