WAAE: 11.3.6 SP7 installation hangs on connection to Oracle

Issue/Introduction

During the installation of CA Workload Automation AE release 11.3.6 SP7 on Windows 2012 R2 with remote Oracle 12c database, installation hangs and cannot connect to Oracle.         

Cause

Problem was related to "tnsnames.ora" file with each instance formatted on one row.

Environment

WA AE 11.3.6 SP7 on Windows 2012 R2 + Local 32-bit Oracle Client

Remote Oracle 12c Database Server    

Resolution

The encountered problem was related to "tnsnames.ora" file format.

There were more than 140 instances referenced in tnsnames.ora.

The instances were formatted on one unique row per instance and it seemed to take a long time for the installation procedure to go through the file.

After setting "tnsnames.ora" file to standard format, the installation completed successfully.

This modification was only during the installation and the file can be set back to the modified format after the installation.
