Why is the login with USER_ROLE rights unable to run ad-hoc reports?

Issue/Introduction



While logged in as a user with only "USER_ROLE" rights a message is received while trying to run ad-hoc reports:

"You do not have permission to view this page.

Please contact your system administrator or log in as a user with permission"

Resolution

Within this deployment of Jaspersoft the "USER_ROLE" role doesn't have the ability to access the ad-hoc report interface, this is a built in restriction.
The recommendation is to either save the ad-hoc report as a standard "Report", or elevate the rights of the users who need to use ad-hoc reports, for example "Role_Report_User" will have the ability to run ad-hoc reports.
