Issue/Introduction

Kibana displays an "Invalid Date" message for some visualizations, including those based on AXA Session data. This issue can be encountered on the AXA Data Studio "Discover" and "Visualize" tabs when querying for data. For example:

Environment

This issue can occur for any AXA version which makes use of Kibana 4.x, including AXA releases 16.4.1, 16.4.1 Hotfix 1, and 16.4.2.

Cause

The issue is caused by a known issue on how Kibana 4.x handles certain date formats. This issue described here: https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/9096 and addressed in Kibana 5.x versions.

Resolution

In AXA Data Studio, this issue will be addressed in a future release of AXA, where the Kibana version will be upgraded to Kibana 5.x. There are no workarounds for this issue currently in AXA releases 16.4.1, 16.4.1 Hotfix 1, and 16.4.2.
