S0C4 ABENDS in OPVIEW Options

Issue/Introduction

We just upgraded and there are several options in OPSVIEW that are not functioning. We are getting S0C4 abends and/or the message: ERROR 12 COMPILING pgmname, LINE 0: CLAUSE TOO LONG. Everything else appears to be functioning OK.

Environment

Cause

FB and VB formatted datasets cannot be mixed under the SYSEXEC DD.  When issuing the TSO ISRDDN this warning for SYSEXEC concatenation will be received:
 

Warning: ISRDDN has detected that one or more concatenations, including DD name SYSEXEC contain mixed record formats, organizations, or fixed record lengths. Reading from allocations containing different types of data sets can cause I/O errors, ABENDs, or other unpredictable results. For further information, see the z/OS documentation on using data sets. Enter CHECK OFF to disable this check.

Resolution

Check the SYSEXEC concatenation with a TSO ISRDDN command. It is recommended to use the FB format since OPS/MVS no longer supplies any VB format SYSEXEC datasets. The Variable Blocked (VB) REXXLIB datasets were corrected by making them Fixed Blocked (FB) datasets.
