How to recover after Delete of current ACT or SMRT in use by TPX?

Issue/Introduction

I deleted the active ACT member (marked STARTUP) within TPXADMIN. 
How can I recover?

Cause

User error.  There is a delete confirmation within TPXADMIN which should not taken lightly.

Resolution

This should not be an immediate problem since the ACT and SMRT are loaded into memory at startup, so TPX still has access to that data until the started task is cycled or ACT/SMRT is reloaded in TPXOPER.

• If you have a backup entry in the ACT or SMRT, then recreate the original and copy into it from the backup.
• If you do not have a backup entry in the ACT or SMRT, the only option is to restore ADMIN1 from a backup of TPX VSAM file after stopping TPX.

ACT and SMRT records are located in ADMIN1. (See docops TPX 5.4 Record Type Information).

A good practice is to make a backup copy of the active ACT (and SMRT) within TPXADMIN. Then if there is ever the need to fall back, you can copy from the backup table into current. Similarly, any time you are making changes to the ACT or SMRT, the first step should be to make a backup within the table.

To create a copy of your ACT or SMRT within TPXADMIN, Systems Options, either SMRT or ACT:
 

1. Optional Create a new table, if necessary: on the command line ==> S ACT01BK and press <enter>. (Use whatever table entry name you want in place of ACT01BK)

2. Use the Copy command to copy from the original table entry into the backup and press <enter> then PF3 to save.
