Issue/Introduction

This article is intended to address the concerns about the change from Standard Daylight Time to Daylight Saving Time or vice-versa if you are running CA OPS/MVS Event Management and Automation software.

This past weekend we saw that the time change update in our current product set looked fine. Is there any type of action requirement with the fall time change for this set?

Environment

Resolution

If you do not have any Time Of Day (TOD) rules that run at the hour when the time changes for Daylight Saving Time, you have nothing to worry about and nothing to do.

For the change back to Standard Daylight Time, the only concern may be the TOD rule may execute twice (again when the hour repeats). Depending upon the what the rule needs to do, this may not be a problem either.

Additional Information

  • You may want to consider using this rule for the time change. The time change sample rule below disables rules prior to the time change and re-enables rules after.

          TMECHNG

Resynchronizes AOF TOD rules during dynamic Daylight savings time changes. No IPL is performed.

See the internal member documentation in your CA OPS/MVS samples dataset: hlq.CCLXSAMP(TIMECHNG)

The document below is a discussion of using the TIMECHNG rule.
