Agent installation or upgrade fails with error "Script executed with error: 1"

Issue/Introduction

Installation or Upgrade of ITCM Agent on Linux/Unix, following error appears :

Aborting install due to error previously reported

10:42:11 !!  Script executed with error: 1

Script or command "scripts/install/postinterview" failed with exit code 1.

Reason:The script or command encountered a problem.

Action:Find further details in the installation log file

/opt/CA/SharedComponents/installer/log/ca-dsm.log.

do_exit_rc=7

Client Automation Unix\Linux - All versions

Cause

This problem could be caused by a corrupted installation of ITCM Agent.

In output of command

lsm -l -O PIF

The products ca-dsm* are present but the files/directories under /opt/CA/DSM (or under directory set by $CA_ITCM_BASEDIR) are missing or partially deleted

Resolution

The solution is to delete the corrupted installation of ITCM Agent with this command :

lsm -e ca-dsm

and try again the installation
