In what scenario would an IDMS BACKUP utility leave a lock on an area?

Environment

IDMS - All Supported Releases

Resolution

If you run the IDMSBCF BACKUP utility without the SHARE option, then a lock is placed on the area being backed up. The only reason why that lock would remain is that the BACKUP did not finish completely.
