Issue/Introduction

UPM Downloads failing via Proxy

Cause

NTLN authentication needs to be enabled on the proxy server

Environment

CA Client Automation - All Versions

Resolution

The following setting need to the be enabled on the proxy server:

Administrative tools-->Local security policy-->Local policies-->Security options
Network security: Restrict NTLM: Outgoing NTLM traffic to remote servers, value should be 'Allow all'
Network security: Restrict NTLM: Incomming NTLM traffic, value should be 'Allow all'

Change the following setting on the machine where PM is installed:
Administrative tools-->Local security policy-->Local policies-->Security options
Network security: LAN manager authentication level properties, value should be either 'Send LM and NTLM responses' or 'Send NTLM response only'

It is better we restart the proxy server when we are changing the DM since some details are cached in the proxy server.

With the above settings both HTTP and FTP downloads should be working through the proxy server.

As such there seems to be no issue with the Patch manager application and with the above settings all the downloads should be working.
