Issue/Introduction

We are in the process of converting our IBM virtual tape environment (ATL) to EMC virtual tape environment (MTL). When a tape is mounted in the EMC virtual tape environment, we see the TMS009 message is displayed and it is also highlighted in our syslog. The mount does not wait for a response. Why is this showing up?

Resolution

The IBM ATL mounts for tapes are suppressed before CA 1 sees them so you do not get the TMS001 or TMS009 messages.

The mount for a tape in an EMC device is not suppressed so you will now see the TMS001 and TMS009 messages and the tape will automatically be mounted. This is an informational message.
