Issue/Introduction

How to proceed if we wish to honor the expiration date from the VTOC when there is no RETPD parameter coded with the archive or backup parameter?

Resolution

Set parameter EXPDTUSE to Y as an override parameter when there wasn’t RETPD coded in the archive or backup job.

To honor the EXPDTUSEY, the expiration date from the VTOC entry must be equal or greater than the calculated default value (RETRETPD parameter), therefore RETRETPD should be set to a very low value when EXPDTUSE is set to ‘Y.
