Issue/Introduction

check_dbalive alert is not cleared after starting the SQL services in IM console and from sqlserver.log:

Profile profile, Cannot connect to database instance sample_server: (Profile: profile/check_dbalive/Connect - COM Error: Code=0x80004005 Source=Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers Description=[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Cause

DX UIM any version.

sqlServer 5.45 and above

Resolution

To resolve this issue, please follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the sqlserver probe configuration.
2. Double-click  on the connection to open its setup.
3. Update the following settings:
   • Retry attempts: Set to 2
   • Retry delay: Set to 1 minute
   • Timeout: Set to 30 seconds
     
4. Save your changes.
5. Restart the sqlserver probe.

After completing these steps, the alarm should clear within 3 minutes.
