We needed to update the xcom.glb file for CA XCOM for Windows and used Notepad to do so. After that the xcomd service would not start and fail with a Error Code 473.
XCOM r11.6Windows 7/2008/2012
By default the encoding of the xcom.glb file is UTF-8, but when edited with Notepad and saved, Notepad alters the encoding and saves it as UTF8 BOM. XCOM is unable to handle that type of file, hence why the xcomd service won't start. The xcomd service will fail with a Error Code 473.
Anytime you edit the xcom.glb file with Notepad you must save it as ANSI. In other words, you have to do a SAVE AS and make sure it is ANSI.
