dxdumpdb operation failing with strange error on directory server

Issue/Introduction

Dxdumpdb is failing to create the backup. There are no errors in the trace or alarm logs, however the warn log contains: 

20170309.024143.540 WARNING: Unable to unpack syntax 4 
Entry has no attributes 
20170309.024213.282 WARNING: Parser found nothing 

 

 

Environment

Applies to any CA Directory environment

Cause

The warnings occur during the dxdumpdb operation to a corrupted datastore. 

Resolution

1. Get the .zdb from another working server. 

2. Stop the non-working DSA. 

3. Rename the .zdb and remove the .tx file and the .dp files or copy them out to another folder all together. 

And then run the dxdumpdb command.
