Subsystem Analyzer for DB2 for z/OS Detector for DB2 for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

In both Detector and Subsystem Analyzer the main menu will populate DS Group ==> 'the DS Group from your last session' even if you are logged on to a non-datasharing DB2.

Environment

Release: R20
Component: PSA, PDT

Resolution

The DSGROUP field is operating as designed. What may not be clearly understood by just viewing the panel is that the DSGROUP name is independent of the SSID value field. In fact, if you press PF1 to invoke the help panel for the main menu, select the Field Descriptions panel, and select option 3 for DSGROUP, you will find the following explanation.

Field: DS Group

Description: The DB2 data sharing group name that will be used when invoking the data sharing group displays. This name is

independent of the SSID value being used. That is, the DS group name does not have to be that of the the SSID specified.

If this field is blank and you select a data sharing group display, or if you enter a question mark (?) in this field, or if

you type in an invalid group name, then the DETECTOR Data Sharing Groups Display will be shown from which you can select a valid

data sharing group name.

The DS group name will be retained in your ISPF profile.

So another way to understand it is that it is saved continuously until the value is changed just like in the Start collection display where the last values entered are retained there in an attempt to speed up the field population.
