Issue/Introduction

How do I remove the COPY Archvols.

Resolution

Gather a list of the PRIM and COPY Archvol volsers for which you want to delete the COPY.  If a COPY tape is part of a multi-vol set, ONLY the FIRST volser can be processed, and not the 2nd or 3rd etc. volumes.
 
Use IXUPDATE Utility, RESET command.
The command you would use is:
  RESET KEY=primary_key,
        COPY=NULL

What this does is that for the prim_key specified, the COPY volser field is NULL'd [blanked out].
Then when the next IXMAINT is run, that COPY Archvol is hanging out there not associated with a PRIM
and it will be expired and made available to your tape mgmt system.
