If Dual Primary support processing is initiated then a number of changes will be required. These changes may include modifying sysparms and command statements in multiple types of jobs, for example, To setup a backup / archive for dual primary archvols, you will need to specify the

SET PRIMARY2
SCAN REALVOLS
ELECT DSN=
BACKUP RETPD=30,RETPD2=15
To set up separate retentions periods, specify 'RETPD=' or 'EXPDT=' for the PRIMARY1 and 'RETPD2=' or 'EXPDT2' for the PRIMARY2. The PRIMARY2 archvol data set name and unit info will be taken from the ARCCNAME and ARCCTYPE sysparms. For Restore / Recover see sysparm 'RESPRISQ'. This sysparm indicates which DSNINDEX records are to be searched and in what order. For other functions like IXMAINT and MERGE, there's the 'PRIMARY2=' command parameter to either include or exclude the primary2 archvols.
